Bridge To Recovery (B2R)

Details
It is an unfortunate reality that addiction to drugs and alcohol in the U.S. has reached near epidemic levels. According to the latest statistical evidence, approximately 46% of U.S. adults have reported having dealt with substance abuse (alcohol or drugs) in their families.*
This figure includes:
18% who reported problems related just to alcohol.
10% who reported problems related just to drugs.
18% who reported dealing with both alcohol and drug issues in their families.
Impact on Children:
A recent 2023 report indicates that nearly 19 million U.S. children—1 in 4—lived with at least one parent or primary caregiver who had a substance use disorder.
A 2017 report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) specified that about 10.5% of U.S. children (7.5 million) lived with a parent who had an alcohol use disorder specifically.
Parental substance abuse is a condition associated with removal in a significant percentage of child welfare cases. In 2021, nationally, this was a factor in 39.1% of children placed in out-of-home care.
General Statistics:
A 2017 Pew Research Center survey found that 46% of U.S. adults have a family member or close friend who is or has been addicted to drugs.
About one-third (32%) of Americans specifically say that drugs have been a source of trouble in their family.
About The Program:
The Bridge to Recovery Program (B2R), administered by the Gospel Light Recovery Center, is a 100% free two-year faith-based program designed to empower those who face one of life's most difficult challenges (addiction). It is our personal conviction and belief that God has, by His grace, provided the means by which we can live the victorious Christian life. And that this victory is only found in a close and intimate daily walk with Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in John 1:12, "But as many as received him, to them gave he POWER to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" And in Galatians 5:6, the Apostle Paul instructs the church in Galatia to, "... Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." At Gospel Light, this is not only our purpose but our privilege. It is to teach others how to find victory in Jesus.

“The outer must be preceded by the inner; public life for God must be preceded by private life with God; unless God has first spoken to a man, it is vain to attempt to speak for God.”
— James Stalker, The Preacher as a Man of God (1848–1927)
